Export BCF to Excel

To export an Excel spreadsheet, open a project that has issues, then either use Export issues → Excel from the sidebar project menu for the whole project, or select issues on the Issues page and choose Actions → Export as Excel. Pick the fields and options in the dialog, then click Export.

An Excel export is handy for issue tracking, filtering and sharing with people who work in spreadsheets. As with the PDF report, you can export the whole project or a selection, and the same dialog lets you choose which fields to include — plus two Excel-only options for how the spreadsheet is built.

Steps

Export the whole project

Every issue in the project, from the sidebar menu.

  1. Open the project menu

    In the sidebar, click the project name to open its menu. Open the Export issues dropdown and choose Excel. The export dialog opens.

  2. Set the options and export

    Choose which standard and custom fields to include and set how many recent comments to export. Two options are specific to Excel: turn on Selectable fields to make attribute cells drop-down lists, and Split sheets by to group the workbook into separate sheets. Click Export and the spreadsheet downloads.

Export selected issues

A selection of one or more issues, from the Issues page.

  1. Open Issues

    Go to the Issues page in your project.

  2. Select the issues

    To export a single issue, right-click it in card view and choose Export as → Excel. For multiple issues, tick the checkboxes (top-left of the card or the left column in table view) and use Actions → Export as Excel.

  3. Set the options and export

    The same dialog as above: pick the standard and custom fields, set how many recent comments to export, and use the Excel-only Selectable fields and Split sheets by options if you need them. Click Export and the spreadsheet downloads.

Turn on Selectable fields to make those cells a drop-down list of the attribute's values in your project, so people can pick a value in the spreadsheet instead of typing it. Turn on Split sheets by to split the workbook into separate sheets grouped by a field you choose — for example by type or by status. Everything happens in your browser; your issues are not sent to a server.
