Free IFC viewer online
Bimlyte is a free IFC viewer that runs in your browser — open IFC files online at no cost, with no account and no upload.
No paid tiers, no feature limits and nothing to install. Open the app and start reviewing your BIM model.
Open an IFC file for free in three steps
- Open Bimlyte in your browser — there is nothing to download.
- Load your IFC file from your device (IFC2x3, IFC4 or IFC4x3).
- Review the model geometry and data straight away.
What "free" usually costs you elsewhere
Most free IFC viewers are free in one sense and limited in another. It is worth knowing which limit you are agreeing to before you load a model — here are the common ones, and where Bimlyte stands on each:
- A file-size or element cap that refuses the model you actually need to review. Bimlyte sets no limit; what you can open depends on your device's memory.
- A watermark stamped across exported views or reports. Bimlyte adds none.
- A cap on how many issues, projects or saved views you can keep. There is no cap.
- An export wall — you can look, but getting a PDF, a spreadsheet or a BCF file back out needs a paid plan. Every export is included here.
- A sign-up wall that trades access for your email address and a marketing sequence. There is no account at all.
- A time-limited trial that quietly becomes a sales call. There is no trial, because there is nothing to upgrade to.
Why it is free, and what that means for you
Bimlyte is not a free tier of a paid product, and there is no paid version being held back. It is an independent project built by a BIM practitioner for the AEC community, and everyone uses the same complete tool.
That matters practically, not just philosophically: there is no upgrade path, so there is no commercial reason to make the free experience worse. Nothing is deliberately withheld to create one.
What you can do once your file is open
Free doesn't mean stripped down. The everyday IFC and BCF tools are all here:
- Inspect IFC geometry and model data.
- Measure distances and cut section planes through the model.
- Create, edit and manage BCF issues, in BCF 2.1 or BCF 3.0.
- Export PDF and Excel reports from your BCF data.
- Bundle and share a project as a .bimlyte package.
Free, and your files still stay on your device
A free tool shouldn't mean handing over your project files as the real price. Bimlyte processes your IFC model in your browser and does not upload it to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Is Bimlyte really a free IFC viewer?
Yes. Bimlyte is completely free, with no paid tiers and no feature limits.
There is no trial to activate and no credit card required. It is an independent project, not the free tier of a commercial product.
Are there any limits on the free version?
No. There is no separate paid version — everyone uses the same free tool, including every export.
There is no file-size cap, no watermark and no limit on issues or projects. Storage is limited only by your own device and browser.
Do I need an account to use the free IFC viewer?
No. You can open Bimlyte and load an IFC file without signing up or logging in.
There is no email wall, so there is also no marketing sequence attached to using it.
What is the catch with a free IFC viewer?
With Bimlyte there is no catch in the usual sense: your files are not the payment, because they are never uploaded, and there is no paid tier the free version is steering you towards.
The honest trade-off is scope rather than cost. Bimlyte is a viewer and a BCF manager — it does not author models or run automated clash detection, and those remain jobs for BIM authoring software and model-checking tools.
